Miss Clara Thomsen former German teacher visited the Monticello high school last Friday morning. Mr Scroggie and Miss Elssa Bender visited Friday afternoon. New pupils and teachers received a surprise reception with a laughter test and lemonade served by the high school boys and girls.

Lawrence Wauchure of Guernsey died August 22 at 83. Funeral August 24 at U P church in Guernsey. Born Bohemia August 10 1820 he came to America 1854 lived in Chicago, Dubuque, Linn County, Monticello then Guernsey. Survived by son Jacob, daughter in law, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Interment Guernsey Cemetery. Ernest Shelley bought the Belle Devlin store. Mr. McAleer ill. Bucklen’s Arnica Salve promoted for skin ills at 25 cents. Judge Stevens alignment with progressive ticket noted by Dub Telegraph Herald.
