A milk truck overturned in a ditch on a gravel road seven miles west of Monticello after a nighttime collision with a car. The crash report notes accident details and location.
Bid letting for sewer and water work set for Oct 9 with hearings at 8 p m. Completion targets are Nov 15 for streets and Dec 15 for sewer projects. Zoning change hearing also on Oct 9 to extend an industrial zone near Dairy Mart.

Three Hopkinton teenagers were hospitalized after a one car crash on a gravel road near the Carrie Miller farm. Driver Duane Sternhagen 19 was taken to University Hospitals Iowa City in fair condition. Passenger Linda Sternhagen 17 and Fred Hunter Jr 15 were at John McDonald Hospital Monticello in fairly good condition.
A 1965 Oldsmobile convertible driven by Stanley D. Cook and a 1967 GMC milk truck driven by John W. Schilt collided on a gravel road seven miles west of Monticello at 7 30 a m Monday. No injuries were reported. Car damage estimated at 1200 dollars and the truck at 2000 dollars. State Patrolman Virgil Smith investigated.
A one car crash Sunday on the old Morley bridge near Anamosa injured three youths. Driver Mavis Rasdal 19 sustained concussion and eyelid laceration, passenger Chuck Castle 19 suffered scalp and leg lacerations, and Wendy Jo Pavin 15 had leg abrasions. Rasdal and Castle were admitted to Anamosa Community hospital while Pavin was treated and released. Rasdal was charged with improper control. Damage was estimated at 1100 dollars to her 1963 Pontiac. Highway Patrolmen investigated.
A 50‑pound young buck was struck and killed on county road 428 about a quarter mile west of Anamosa at 10 p.m. last Wednesday. The driver, Neil Steigen, 33, Anamosa, escaped injury after the deer darted from the south ditch into his path. Front damage to the 1965 Ford was about $300. The deer was turned over to Bob Mineck of Tipton for the local game warden area.
Stephen Henry Kremer 19 of Monticello was injured in a one car crash Thursday at midnight, 2.5 miles southwest of Cascade on a county road. He suffered multiple lacerations, was hospitalized at John McDonald hospital, released Saturday morning. Kremer drove a 1953 Ford off the road into a ditch, rolled over, total loss. Investigation ongoing by Highway Patrolman Kenneth Carter.
At 12 30 p m Saturday a car driven by 18 year old Larry Burkey of Anamosa backed into a parked 1966 International pickup owned by Joseph Glenn three miles west of Anamosa at Fairview. Damages were about 100 dollars to the pickup and 20 to the car. Deputy Arnold Latuska investigated. no charges and no injuries.
