No organized opposition has formed to the soldier's bonus with Iowa voters favored to authorize over 85 million dollars for servicemen. Service groups are running a strong get out the vote drive and American Legion and VFW publications push approval ahead of next Tuesday's general election.
Mrs. Henry L. Wismeier entertained at her home last Sunday for her brothers and sister and their families as a farewell dinner before moving to a new Monticello residence this week. Mrs. Abe Allamand joined Mrs. Frank Schneiter and Mrs. George Burrichter at a Rock Island Guild meeting last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. Maire and daughter Georganne of Aurora visited George B. Hein.
Miss Martha Balear and Mrs Anna Schultz of Cedar Rapids stayed with Miss Margaret Wissmeier and Mrs H L Wissmeier last weekend. Mr and Mrs John Yossi and Alfred Bauman, both of Cedar Rapids, visited Mr and Mrs Carl Schneiter last Sunday. Mr and Mrs Carl Hein were Dubuque visitors last week.
Word reaches Castle Grove that Frank Howie a former township resident has died at his California home. His funeral occurred Monday. In Castle Grove O R Howie J Bader and Clarence Howie visited Cedar Rapids for business last week. John Laban sale brought cows up to 265 dollars each. SchoolDistrict No 2 Halloween party taught by Miss Gertrude Crew and District No 4 program by Miss Ella Rickels reported. Vincent Redmond and family occupy new home.
