A farm house on the John Otten farm near Scotch Grove was struck by lightning and burned early Tuesday at 5:30 am. Mr and Mrs Otten and their grandson Lynn Kuhns escaped in their night clothes as the 10 room structure and its contents were destroyed.
Three persons were injured in a two car crash on county road B four and a half miles west of Anamosa at 5 25 p m Saturday. Bernieta May Wells 26 of Anamosa driver of one car neck whiplash laceration of ring finger and her son Dean 2 contusions of face Edith Viola Johnson 70 Route 2 Anamosa driver of the other car laceration of left wrist and chest pain passenger Mrs Ronald Moyer Route 2 Anamosa abrasions and contusions of right knee. Mrs Wells lost control on a curve and the cars collided.

A personal injury suit filed in Jones County District Court seeks $3500 in damages from Harold Huston and Terry Smith after Kenneth Roger Harris alleges his 1967 Anamosa collision caused $500 in car damage and a severe head injury. The crash occurred July 6 at 4:30 p.m. on Hickory Street and Jones Avenue.
Mr and Mrs Sam Rhatigan of Monticello received a telegram Friday that their 19 year old son Pfc John C Rhatingan stationed in Vietnam was wounded October 19 in the left thigh by hostile fire and was in an evacuation hospital. He entered the Army in September 1966 and had been in Vietnam about a month.
The Country Rebels, a Monticello based youth country and western band, are scheduled for WMT-TV appearances on October 28 and November 4 on the Leo Greco show at 6 15 p.m. members Kent Moore Karla Moore Dennis Chapman Terry Chapman aged 15 12 12 and 16 respectively are children of Dale Chapman Merlin Moore Route 1 Monticello.
