Area elections reported in capsule form show 110 votes cast in Wyoming. Eddie Brunscheen won a council seat with 50 votes amid 27 write‑in candidates. Re-elected councilmen include Leroy Dirks with 109 votes and Clarence Romer with 107, for mayor Lyman Thompson with 99.
Summary of multiple small town elections across Delhi Oxford Junction and Center Junction including mayoral and council races. Incumbents Wilbur Soppe A. J. Schmidt and Louis Lorenzen won, with several new council members elected and notable write ins. Voter turnout described as about average across locations.
The Rotary program screens Viva Mexico at 7:30 p.m. Monday Nov 13 in the Mon ticello Community High School auditorium. Narrator Bill Dalzell, resident near Mexico City since 1964, brings deep knowledge of the country and its people. Dalzell, Ohio State graduate and former TV news editor, has traveled over 100 countries and contributed to the New York Times and National Geographic. Tickets are limited and held for sale at the door.
At 12 55 p m on November 1 three cars collided at East First and South Elm in Monticello. Merle L Postel driving a 1960 Chevrolet south on Elm collided with Leroy K Handel in a 1966 Ford from First Street, pushing Postel into Levina Schwendinger in a 1966 Ford stopped on South Elm. Postel cited for failure to yield. Damage totals: Handel 500, Postel 200, Schwendinger 75. A second incident at 5 45 p m Oct 30 involved William B Edwards Jr and Paul J Mesch with Edwards Mustang sustaining 150 in damage. Mesch reported none.
Boyd Christensen failed to win re election with 32 votes and Frank Himebaugh with 31. Don Oster was unopposed for mayor and received 46 votes. John Gray, the current mayor, gained six write in votes. Mrs Louis Moran was re elected treasurer with 31 votes, defeating Mrs Donald Oster who had 26.
The Monticello VFW will sponsor a Veterans Day parade on Saturday November 11 at 10 a.m. Marchers include the VFW drill team Boy Scouts Camp Fire and Monticello Community High School band. The parade starts at Central School goes to Main Street then up First Street to the Community building where a short ceremony follows.
Work crews updated the façade of the McNeill and Stuhler buildings in early fall, adding a refreshed front with modern accents while preserving historic elements. The renovation aims to boost curb appeal and attract tenants.
