Zion Church Observes Third Anniversary Milestones
Zion church marked its fiftieth anniversary on June 4 1922 with sermons by C Mardorf and others including Rev O Proehl Rev George Vollmer and Rev A Hein. The sixtieth anniversary followed on June 2 1932. In 75 years the church performed 2309 baptisms 1426 confirmations 610 marriages and 607 rites of burial. Membership totals show 804 baptized 631 communicant and 251 families.

Four Pastors Serve 75 Years At Zion Church
Rev. J. Oetjen led Zion from 1872 to 1878 as its first pastor. In 1878 Rev. Christoph Mardorf arrived, serving 40 years until Aug 25, 1918, then living in Monticello where he died Jan 20, 1935. He rests beside Oakwood cemetery in Monticello. In 1918 Rev. John P. Willis from Wishek, N. D., began his tenure on Oct. 13.
