The article honors Memorial Day as a solemn, unifying occasion rooted in Liberty and national service. It recalls the 1776 tradition, notes community participation in decorating graves, and describes Monticello’s annual memorial program at the soldiers' monument and cemetery.
The Wyoming Independent School District plans a special election on June 9 at the town hall from 12 noon to 7 pm. Voters will decide if funds may be used to purchase or build a superintendent home not exceeding 6000 dollars, with site and payment from district treasury.
The annual Children day program is scheduled for Sunday June 8 during the regular church hour with a full lineup of songs prayers recitations duets and a piano duet. The fire department answered a call at the Ben Heiken residence May 27 with the fire confined to the roof and only slight damage.
Mr and Mrs Harley Bulgren and son Billy return to Center Junction for summer. Bulgren taught and served as principal and coach at Ottosen during the school term. Mr and Mrs Robert Alyea of Emerson Nebraska dine with S G Thompson Saturday evening.
Sacred Heart Catholic Church lists Rev. Eugene P. Lorenz as pastor with Sunday Masses at 8 and 10 am and additional weekday Mass at 7 am. Confessions Saturday 3:30–4:30 and 7–8 pm. before feasts and First Fridays 3–4 pm or per notice. Presbyterian Church pastor Wm. J. Grossheim offers Sunday school 10 am and morning worship 11 am. the program “Along Life's Highway” will be.
Area congregations list service times Sunday school and worship plans for Castle Grove Prairieburg St John’s Monticello and others. Vacation Bible school hours noted plus Ladies Aid meeting details and a Young People Rally date in McGregor included.
Prof. Geo J Zeilinger will conduct the service. June 9 marks the second week of vacation Bible school from 9 to 2 30 daily. June 10 an adult instruction class. Advance notice Holy communion in German on June 15 and also English service.
