Ida Grove reports Mr and Mrs Enoch Churchill of Arthur Ida county celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Churchill born in England 1830 came to America 1852 and apprenticed as a carpenter in New York. He moved west in 1855 and married Susan Williams in DeWitt in May 1860. he served in the Twenty sixth Iowa Infantry during the Civil War.
Le Mars celebrates the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Mr W M Clagg and his wife. Married in Clinton Illinois on May 11 1860 the couple moved to Le Mars in 1887. Mr Clagg is seventy one and his wife three years younger. He served on General Hobson’s staff in Kentucky during the Civil War.
Elliott corn planting moves ahead steadily as farmers wait for settled warmer weather. Much winter wheat will be plowed up and put into corn and badly damaged clover fields will be converted to corn.
Debating teams from State Teachers' college won two unanimous decisions over State Normal school of Emporia Kansas. The topic was Parcels Post for the United States with both sides presenting affirmative and negative positions at Cedar Falls and Emporia.
A blaze started at Onstoot's restaurant and swept three brick storefronts owned by C. L. Hines, J. D. Baum, and Ray Bagley, including a barber shop and Bagley’s music store. Firefighters stopped the spread with brick walls. losses estimated around $6,000, with partial insurance.

Reinbeck resident Harry Kingsbury a 40 year old single man, reportedly driven by temporary insanity, drank hydrochloric acid and died. The incident occurred in Reinbeck and is described as self-inflicted.
In Marshalltown a dog that birthed puppies was adopted by a neighbor’s litter of five pigs after an unusual experiment. The old dog treats the pigs as her own, feeding and guarding them despite occasional fierce snapping when the piglets squeal.
Carroll Emmett Powers of Des Moines was elected state secretary and T F Griffin of Sioux City state deputy. John Carmody Perry became treasurer with J H McCoulogue Mason City as advocate and George L McAllister Carroll state warden. Rev J I Bowen Delmar named state chaplain. Delegates to the national convention include Rev J Noonan Creston E G Dunne Mason City and J J Myers Carroll.
Marshall lodge No. 312 B. P. O. Elks dedicated a new club house valued at forty thousand dollars. The ceremony featured speakers Charles S. Bradshaw and Jerry B. Sullivan of Des Moines. A banquet and dancing followed.
