Carroll Mrs J H Cheasebro wife of engineer Cheasebro fractured her hip while performing household duties. She was taken to St. Anthony's hospital for treatment and her advanced age raises fears she will be left a cripple.
William W. Kentfield, a prosperous farmer from Oskaloosa, died by his own hand using strychnine. Grieving his wife's death two years prior and enduring ill health, he left five minor children.

Miss Rose Bridel, a Mason City clerk, was knocked down and badly injured by John Malavason after she announced plans to marry Jesse Fiery of St. Paul. Several teeth loosened and her face was lacerated. Malavason was detained by authorities.
Waterloo salesman J. T. Slifsgaard of a Dubuque firm was robbed on the route to his train. A blow to the head left him unconscious and near death. The highwaymen took $40 and menaced him with a diamond ring until two women frightened them away.

Names of missing included Lillian Bassett and John Bassett of Algonac, Arch ie Fuller, John Gibson, and Gus Zaetsch. The Wood remained afloat after its bow was stove, as Captain Gibson ordered lifeboats deployed and efforts to rescue sailors continued.

Har ley Plantz and Amanda Nolta of State Center face legal and family obstacles as they plan a marriage forbidden by Iowa law for first cousins. Nolta's parents object and Plantz is jailed on a concealed weapons charge for allegedly threatening August Nolta. Plantz posted bond to keep the peace.
