Monticello Plans Limited Summer School Program
The Monticello Community School District will offer a four week summer program for elementary and junior high students in reading and arithmetic with limited funds. Seventh and eighth graders join. preschool and kindergarten are cut. Classes run 8:45 to 11:45 a.m. with six pupils per period and transportation unfunded.

One-Car Crash Near Cascade Causes Severe Injuries
Steffen suffered multiple skull fractures and brain damage after a 7 p.m. crash on highway 151 near Cascade. Lyons apparently lost control of an eastbound car, left the road, struck a culvert near the Roy Greenwood farm house driveway, and stopped on the driveway. The 1966 Chevrolet front end sustained about 1800 dollars in damage. Highway Patrolman Tom Toner and Deputy Sheriff John Wright investigated. Adams and Lurken were also involved in related incidents with multiple vehicle losses and injuries.
