Trapped Driver Rescued After Car Fire Near Fenton

George Brandt of Estherville was trapped in a burning car after a traffic accident near Fenton. John Munch, a local farmer, pulled him free and used a fire extinguisher to quell the blaze.

Monticello Youth Elected to Sub District Offices

Monticello youths attended the Davenport District Youth rally in Mt Vernon on April 17 led by M Y F counselor William Johnson Rev Robert Gildner and Mrs Gildner. Four Monticelloans were elected to sub district offices with James Hargrave Diane Wilkinson and Bonnie Schneider named officers and Williams Johnson named director of youth work for the Anamosa sub district. The rally closed with all officers and the director installed.

Monticello Band Parents Plan May Meeting

Band parents of Monticello High School will hold a meeting on Thursday May 5 at 8 p.m. at the high school. They will elect officers and discuss uniforms instrument rental plan summer trips and the junior senior banquet.
