In Monticello and similar towns punch boards lure teens to spend allowances. In Manchester last week 15 to 17 year olds burglarized small shops to fund a punch board spree, netting about 80 dollars. Merchants should bar youths or laws must curb the practice, to stop wasteful gaming and theft.
Nelda Schoon daughter of L C Schoon Martello and Dillon Mead son of W T Mead Center Junction were united in marriage Saturday March 16 1946 at Anamosa in a double ring ceremony. Attendants were Merle Husman Center Junction and Dean Mead Onslow. The bride wore a gray street length dress with red rose corsage. Mrs Mead is a Martello high school graduate and Mr Mead a Center Junction high school graduate who served three years in the Air Corps.
A Rock Island train reportedly slaughtered four horses after escaping Harper and Wilson’s pasture near Goldfield. Owners later prepared the meat for mink feed despite the incident.

Andrew Staab of Biglow Minnesota could not see from the Staab car windshield and braked. Edward Braband of LeMars, driving a gasoline truck behind him, collided with the Staab car. Damage totaled 3100 to the Staab car and 340 to the gasoline truck.

Irma Schoon named homecoming queen and senior senior sketches leader at Monti High. She is a twelve year class member with multiple activities including glee club chorus operetta and Student Council president. Glen Appleby charter senior member involved in FFA Red Peppers and class play. focused on farming.
Sarah Vernon treated the fourth graders on her birthday March 20. Students made a miniature Dutch scene for a Netherlands study and health posters. Several fourth graders were absent with mumps. Miss Koster's first grade studied Holland and visited a local greenhouse to receive flowers for their room.
Band Mothers Club group decided to serve hot lunches at the April 5 and 6 music contest. Treasurer Mrs Arnold Jacobs reported the fund total at 1152.60, including 593.83 earned by band members selling snacks at games to help buy new uniforms.
Freshmen enjoyed a party in the school gym on Tuesday night March 19 with games dancing and refreshments as the main attractions.
