Iowa urged to boost poultry as war meat shortages loom
Officials from the Feed Institute of Iowa say increasing spring poultry production offers the quickest relief to the national meat shortage expected next summer. Chicks started now reach market by the peak shortage period, with guidance that people can raise yard birds too. The report notes a freeze order affects dressed poultry but not live sales, and stresses rising demand for all meats to aid the war food effort.
