About 125 people attended the FFA parent night banquet at the Monticello Community building despite a snow storm. Monticello Area Students Advance To State Speech Events
Thirty five area students from Monticello Sacred Heart Maquoketa Valley Midland Olin Oxford Jet competed at the district speech meet. Ten Monticello students and two Sacred Heart students earned first ratings to qualify for the state event March 30 31 at Washington high Cedar Rapids. The district drew 416 competitors from 21 schools.

Contracts Let For Road A And Road C In Jones County
Iowa Highway Commission schedules March 6 letting for two asphaltic concrete paving contracts in Jones County. One covers 9.7 miles of Road A from Monticello to the Linn County line, the other more southern segment of Road C near Anamosa. The final surfacing completes a two part project begun last year with base coats laid last summer.
