A compilation of new cars and trucks registered with the Jones county treasurer featuring buyers from Monticello and nearby towns. The police and justice courts report speeding fines and traffic penalties for residents including Monticello and Anamosa, with multiple named individuals and amounts.
Rotarians held the district 597 assembly in Monticello at Poplar Heights for the eastern half with an all day session. Incoming officers attended along with outgoing district governor James Walmsley who pinned Boyd Shannon Monticello as the new district governor set to take office July 1. The rally drew 41 people from 23 clubs as the district covers 47 clubs from Spencer northwest.
The first band concert of the season starts at 8 o clock tonight at the band shelter near the swimming pool conducted by Ray Stumbaugh. Graduates are urged to perform. The program includes marches, overtures, and songs such as Flower Drum Song and Star Spangled Banner with pieces by Fillmore and DeRose.

A A Cain Inc. v Ray C and Ray C Lawrence dismissed June 9 at plaintiff costs. Breach of oral agreement suit filed Jan 9, 1965.
The 115th Great Jones County Fair in Monticello runs Aug 22 to 26. Season tickets go on sale July 5 by mail order only at 6.75 dollars for all daytime and evening performances Tuesday through Saturday. Individual day tickets go on sale Aug 1 by mail or at the fair office.
Three Monticello men Joseph Ernie Appleby LeRoy Appleby and Gene Streeper faced disturbing the peace charges after a Friday night altercation at Loop's restaurant. They pled guilty before J P August Pearson and received suspended sentences for LeRoy and Ernie Appleby while Streeper served 30 days in jail and was later released on bond after an appeal.
David Miller of Monticello was chosen as one of six new district governors at the Iowa Lions Clubs state meeting in Clinton. He will start a one year term on July 1 overseeing 60 clubs across 16 northeast Iowa counties. Miller has held all Monticello Lions offices and served on the district cabinet for six years.
