Kay Chaplin was named Rainbow Girls worthy advisor in Oxford Junction. Patty Neal Paulsen celebrated a birthday at a Ray mond Antons party with the Neal Paulsen family.
A Wyoming social column notes Mrs Meinhardt Thomsen hosted a birthday dinner for their son Johns 21st birthday with guests from Lisbon Olin Vinton Cedar Rapids Oxford Junction and Wyoming. Memorial and Decoration day visits recount relatives and friends from Waterloo Dubuque Manchester Milwaukee Northfield and other nearby towns.
Nickliss is described as sister to George and Henry Fishwild. Mr and Mrs Lyle Ahrendsen traveled to Chelsea Sunday to visit Mrs Ahrendsen's parents Mr and Mrs Lloyd Chesmore.
Vacation Bible schools started Monday at the Presbyterian Methodist and Lutheran churches. Enrollment totals include 58 at the Presbyterian school with a named teaching staff, 48 at the Methodist classes from 9 to 1130 a.m. for two weeks, and 35 at St John’s Lutheran with listed teachers. The Hopkinton fire department plans a spring carnival with Merry Midway shows arriving in town.
Hopkinton hosts a week of nightly entertainment on the baseball field with activities planned for every evening. Participants and local residents are invited to attend and enjoy the varied program.
Miss Franc Earhart, long in failing health, closed her home and moved to Bethany nursing home in Dubuque for care. Her address is 1005 Lincoln, Dubuque. Mrs. John Jacobs of Monticello and Mrs. T Trebben of Pocahontas visited the Emma Smith home Sunday.
Center Junction Presbyterian church trustees plan to begin painting the manse at 10 a.m. today if weather permits. Robert Von Spreecken serves as chairman.
The painting committee asks attendees to bring a pail and four pint brush. A pot luck dinner will be served at noon by church women on the manse lawn. If rain occurs, painting will be moved to Friday June 8. The manse houses Rev. Herbert Moise and family. he was ordained Sunday as pastor of Scotch Grove and Center Junction Presbyterian churches.
Monticello neighbors Mr and Mrs Mike Tobiason and Mrs Pete Paulsen with Ben visited the home of Mr and Mrs Tobe Caspers on Sunday. Mr and Mrs Will Abbichs called in the evening.
