Jones County Judge Rules On Drunk Driving and Divorces
Judge J B Heiserman heard two drunk driving counts and granted two divorces in Jones county district court late last week. Howard Watters of Monticello pled guilty to second offense operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and awaits sentencing on July 6. Ernest Jay Reid of Delhi was fined 300 dollars for O M V I and had his permit surrendered and license suspended 60 days. Divorces granted to Sharon Vozenilek and Mary Kuehl for cruel and inhuman treatment. Vozenilek resumes maiden name. Jury for April term will report June 10. Watters pled guilty Friday ending a June 3 case.

New Junior Cattle Feeder Plan Starts Next Year
Four H members in the junior cattle feeder project will be able to purchase high quality steer calves through a new Jones County program. The plan, sponsored by the Jones County 4 H Committee and allied groups, forms a committee to buy cattle and emphasizes Weeding for Profit with premiums for members. Each participant deposits 80 dollars toward a unit of three calves. eligibility requires age 14 by January 1, 1958 or completion of two beef project years.

Monticello s Alumni Association banquet on May 29 in the Community building gathered eight honored classes. Monticello Plans Summer Recreation Baseball Program
Dean Nelson announced a Monticello summer recreation program starting the week of June 10 with a varsity baseball team holding initial practice Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the fairgrounds diamond. The program includes three levels of baseball, girls softball, tennis and archery with about a dozen games and a state tournament schedule.
