The home school committee of Monticello Community schools will meet Tuesday Feb 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Shannon school. Supervisors set budget hearing for March 9
Jones county supervisors fixed the budget hearing date at the February 17 meeting. The event will be Tuesday March 9 at 2 30 p m in the supervisors board room. The board also authorized the chairman to sign an Iowa highway safety program agreement and granted various licenses including a Class B beer permit and a Sunday permit for Bob's Grill in Monticello.

Firefighters quell field blaze at Eden farm near Prairieburg
Monticello fire department responded to a February 12 alarm at 2:38 p.m. to extinguish a field fire on John Eden’s farm off the lower Prairieburg road west of town. Firefighters battled the blaze and prevented spread.
