Funeral services were held Tuesday in Longmont Colorado for Mrs Lee Thorne who died suddenly December 16 at her home. Grace Dirks Thorne born July 4 1894 to Henry and Mary Dirks in Monticello later moved to Longmont. She married Lee Thorne March 13 1916 and had four children Esther Johnston Shirley Speck Robert and Donald. She is survived by six brothers Otto D John Henry Fred Herman and William with her husband and four children.

The 190 acre Freese farm six miles northeast of Monticello on the Jones Delaware county line is owned by Mrs Gerhard Freese and run by her son Duane and daughter in law. They milk about 25 cows and raise around 300 hogs yearly with assistance from 17 year old Loras Webber. Identification by Mrs Cyril White and others earns the Freeses a free 8 by 10 photo.
The Scotch Grove Women’s Community Club held its annual Christmas luncheon at Mrs. William B. Henrichs’s home with eight tables of centerpieces and red candle light. Thirty-two members attended as Mrs. Marvin Lacock led a candlelight service, followed by a rhythm band performance of Jingle Bells.
The Zion Lutheran adult choir continued its holiday tradition by visiting the county home on Friday and a Monticello hospital on Sunday, with about 18 singers delivering carols to residents and patients.
Jeanette were Sunday guests in Mount Vernon and joined the Cornell college singers for the Messiah in the afternoon. Mr and Mrs Max Burns and family moved this week to Monticello to their new home where Mr Burns is employed. Several attended the Sacred Heart singers Christmas program in Monticello Community building on Tuesday.
Theatre Talk previews the month with a New Year celebration and a slate of major films. Sweethearts on Parade opens New Year’s Eve with doors at 11 15 and show at 11 30. January features include To Hell and Back Broken Lance Count Three And Pray Gentlemen Marry Brunettes Were No Angels The Tall Men and Lady and the Tramp. Bill Thomas of the University of Missouri spends the Christmas holidays visiting his parents Dr. and Mrs. C. G. Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lubben and David will be Christmas guests in the same household.
