J W Jarnagin reports in Tama that J B Maiden faces trial for dynamite fishing. Edward Lane found 300 pounds of dead fish hidden in a barn and others near the sand pump. Officials believe the blast killed about 2000 pounds of fish and Mrs Mary Thompson distributed the catch to needy families.
George Ihnen of Harris in Osceola county was pulled into a power takeoff when his coat got caught in a swiftly rotating shaft. He suffered extensive injuries requiring 150 stitches and skin grafts after the accident at a local farm. Alberta Mae Neal died after a crib fire caused by an electric vaporizer short circuit in Des Moines.
John D. Bomberger longtime custodian of the federal building at Emmetsburg Palo Alto county left his post for the last time at noon then slipped at home two hours later injuring a broken hip. Doctors say he is hospitalized and will take his rest.
At Algona in Kossuth county Doris Taft a high school student stepped into a shallow puddle but was swept into five feet of icy water. The school superintendent witnessed the accident and drove the girl home. She suffered no ill effects.

In an unusual year Vera Scott wins the Buena Vista county clerk race by a large margin while her father W Dailey loses the Cherokee county auditor contest by about 400 votes. Dalley had served as auditor for twenty years.
A three month old two legged pig at F H Volk farm in Bremer county near Waverly remains healthy and active. It moves mainly on its two forelegs with the rear portion sometimes dragging. The animal’s mobility has declined as it grows heavier.
H H Green of Spirit Lake in Dick inson County has reportedly cast his 18th presidential ballot marking a possible state record. Age 90, he first voted in 1864 at Fort Scott Kansas as a 22 year old cavalryman for Abraham Lincoln. He has voted in every national election since.

In Sheldon O'Brien County mid November Mrs Tom Potter picked a fine bouquet of chrysanthemums from her yard. The blooms stood above the light snow and suffered no frost damage according to Mrs Potter.
In Marshall county about 1500 to 1600 voters cast a presidential vote but failed to count on state or county offices due to confusion over voting machines. Voters pulled only the presidential lever, thinking it would cast a straight party vote, while the machine required a pull for each candidate. Meanwhile a separate note reports Mrs Hill of Moulton noting two tomato vines reaching over 13 and 14 feet tall, yielding a heavy tomato harvest.
R L Haas organized a novel event in Carroll county with over 75 participants. Each child received 16 soda crackers four graham crackers and an apple and aimed to eat ten crackers by signaling with a whistle or clap then finish the rest. The top six boys and six girls across age groups won theater tickets. Carroll ministers and physicians acted as judges.
Ten shunters from Des Moines traveled to Clarke county for sport and faced penalties totaling 680 dollars. H. A. Jacobs shot four quail with a 400 dollar fine plus costs, W. E. Riley took two quail and paid 200 and costs, seven men paid 10 dollars for gun permits, and the tenth man paid 10 dollars for hunting without a license.

Charles M. Luett sues Nettie Ackerman in district court at Anamosa for 610.84 unpaid principal and interest on a 1931 note, plus 9.00 extension costs, 32.09 taxes, and attorneys fees. He seeks foreclosure of a 1931 mortgage on Monticello real estate and a lien in rem with a receivership for rents, warning default if not answered by January 23, 1933.
