A late summer wedding was held Tuesday evening at the First Presbyterian Church as Miss Ellen First married LaVerne Eilers. The ceremony marked the couple’s joyous union with music, gowns, and a reception for 150 guests, followed by a family dinner.
Delores Ann Yossi daughter of Mr and Mrs John Yossi Monticello now Cedar Rapids wed Paul J Jacque son of Mr and Mrs Roy Jacque Monticello in a Cedar Rapids St Matthew church ceremony at 11 am The couple will reside at 1434 First Ave NE Cedar Rapids after a Wisconsin honeymoon. Mrs Roland Buol was maid of honor and Robert Jacque was best man. The reception and dinner followed at the bride’s parents home.
Mrs Roy Pearson entertained at a birthday dinner Saturday night marking three family birthdays. Honorees were Mrs Harold Carmichael and daughter Darlene and Mr Pearson, all within the week. The table featured a pink and white candlebra and roses. Distants guests included Mrs Harold Carmichael and Darlene from West Los Angeles and Mr and Mrs Orval Skahill from Cascade.
A family reunion at Anamosa state park on August 11 featured a large gathering of the Hults and Wroblewski families. Attendees included Mrs. Fred W. Hults, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hults and children, Mr. and Mrs. John Wroblewski, the Neunaber and Knake families, plus Albert Lawrence and others from Cedar Rapids.
Members of the Jolly Circle club attended a winner loser party at the home of Mrs. Mary Strang. After a 6 o'clock weiner roast, two pinochle tables determined high score and travel prizes won by Mrs. Rudy Flack and by Mrs. Strang plus Mrs. Irving Bebee respectively.
Reports on the Iowa Pilgrim Fellowship conference in Grinnell noted Sylvia Gutensohn a talented pianist performing two solos. The Pilgrim Fellowship Song was sung by an eight girl choir as Rev S G Gutensohn of Antigo Wisconsin who left Monticello five years ago spoke briefly. Refreshments and a social hour followed with 37 members and guests present.
