Monticello Hosts Japanese English Teacher For Fall
The Monticello Education Association will host Toru Utsubo, a Japanese English teacher, for several weeks this fall with host family Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Guard. Utsubo will study at Fordham University before joining local classes to learn about the American education system. The program, coordinated with Iowa and national education groups, aims to place 42 teachers in Iowa Aug 28 to Sept 13 as part of the Japanese Teachers Program begun in 1968 to foster English instruction and U.S. Japan understanding.
