History of the Nazarene Church in Monticello
In 1952 Rev. Gene E. Phillips urged tent meetings led by Rev. A G Weiss and Rev. Harald Willis at the Monticello fair grounds to form a congregation. Weiss became pastor, guiding church growth, followed by Rev. Clem Kruse who oversaw church building. Subsequent pastors included Rev. Ray Sprenger, Rev. A R MacMurrin, Rev. Clem Keyes, and Rev. Ronald Clark, who resigned in 1961 to pursue evangelism in Dayton Ohio.
