The Greater Monticello Committee met at Monty Cafe with nineteen members to discuss highway signs at advantageous routes to Monticello. Funds will be provided by the GMC and Jones County Fair Board, and the Sign committee led by Elton Copley was authorized to spend up to 750 dollars for the signs.

Patrolman Injured In One Car Crash Near Dubuque
Thomas Toner 28 of Anamosa was listed in satisfactory condition in a Dubuque hospital after a one car crash near Dubuque at 3 30 a m Tuesday. He was a highway patrolman stationed in Jones county.

Fined on OMVI charge and two civil suits filed
In Jones County district court last week Lawrence Michael Kelley was fined 300 dollars for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated first offense with a 60 day license suspension. Alton Memorial Hospital filed April 8 against Harold and Agnes Byrd seeking 354.50 plus five percent and costs for medical services. Home Gas Co. filed April 4 against Ben Hankemeier seeking 533.90 plus five percent interest and costs for fertilizer sold. The grand jury reported no jail inmates or pending cases and urged the Board of Supervisors to study adding a doctor to the County Home and to inspect a padded cell, with a July report requested. Jurors listed: Loren Hartwig, Fred Caspers, Eva Scharff, Florence Sigmund, Frank Eilers Jr, Maxine Bartels, Pat Westphal.
