About 80 residents attended a Monticello Community building session presented by the U S Army Corps of Engineers Rock Island TI outlining flood solutions. The favored plan calls for an earth levee and concrete wall along Kitty creek from Third Street to Highway 38 with closure structures drainage facilities and a holding area to guard left bank flood plain properties.

$84 278 Suit Over Son's Death Filed in Jones County
An $84 278 suit was filed in Jones county district court for the wrongful death of Steven Ray Petersen 18 in a 1970 car crash near Olin. Plaintiffs Robert Wayne and Wanda Lucille Petersen name McAfee and Jensen as defendants seeking 9278.91 for death and 75000 for estate plus interest.
