Two auto loads of local youths led by Ralph Johnston Harry Reeder William Geiger Walter McCord and Frank McCord with Hildegard Haspell Inez Nixon Freda Shiitzer Marie McCord and Marie Johnston enjoyed a moonlight picnic on the Wabash river sandy beach near Newport bridge. A fire glowed and a hearty lunch was shared amid laughter and goodwill. The group called it one of the season’s most enjoyable outings and praised the beach as a fine evening setting.

Albert M. Adams died at his Howard avenue home on Wednesday October 8 after two years of failing health. He was a Parke County Telephone stockholder and former president, remaining a director until his death as the system joined the Bell syndicate. A Knights of Pythias member and Sigma Chi, he was honored with a funeral service at his Methodist church and burial conducted by Rockville bar members, with many friends from Parke and Vermillion counties in attendance.
The Armiesburg bridge opened early this week easing travel for residents below the creek by avoiding fording or ferrying to town. Local officials praise the Commission Advisory Board and contractors, calling it a monument to progress and noting the wood, iron, and now concrete steps mark the future bridge.
A gathering at Mecca Lodge 488 Monday evening saw Montezuma Lodge K of P 264 members led by J G Hamilton John Smith Al Jerome A M Kay Asher Stribling Will Morris Will Wright Orson Black Geo Morgan Caleb Pickard Will Skeeters and B Lindley participate. They assisted with the 2nd and 3rd rank work as Montezuma boys helped with the session. She’s a nice girl.
Montezuma lodge No. 89 F and A M met in regular session Wednesday night. After routine business a social hour followed with a hearty lunch and a fine concert by W M Robert Sutton's Amberola.
A Connor attended the Knights of Columbus celebration at Terre Haute on Sunday and was present at the dedication of the new million dollar dormitory at St. Mary’s of the Woods College.
School opens again after a two week vacation due to diphtheria with fair attendance across all grades and hope no further delays this term.
