Coal Reel's Hasketball five faced Bellmore high school last Friday at Pellmre. Monte opened scoring, Clary followed, and two fouls on Monte gave Bellmore early chances. Bellmore tied before halftime, Monte broke the tie late. In the second half Burns and Clary struggled, Monte's defense held, final score 16 to 19 in favor of our M.H.S.

William Jones a 46 year old mule driver at the Dana mine died Friday afternoon two hours after a mine accident. Witnesses say a switch error left him on the loaded track as an oncoming car of coal struck him. He died en route to Terre Haute hospital. later he was buried in Ohio after relatives were notified.
