Montezuma defeated Hillsdale 31 to 16 with Burns and F McMasters leading the scoring and strong defense closing the second half. In the Newport game Montezuma opened fast and built a large first half lead as Thomas repeatedly scored on fast breaks and team defense held Newport at bay.
In the first half the gun fired for intermission with Newport 21 Danvers 0. The second half saw Newport add eight points while Danvers scored 14, ending 35-8 in favor of the locals. Thomas earns praise while Jack Dulgar impresses with floor play and attitude.
Rockville high school defeated Monte 23 to 15 in a hard fought game. Rockville opened with two long shots and led 10 to 4 at halftime. Thomas led Monte while F McMasters and Forrest trailed him for Rockville. Steveson also starred for Rockville.
Fans and coach Reel anticipate Friday night’s Tangier showdown on Nov 17 as coach Anderson fields the same five with one change. Reel has drilled new plays behind closed doors and asks for loyal student support to back the team on the local floor.
A Reo bus owned by Neal Morgan of Clinton caught fire south of Hillsdale around midnight Sunday while driven by Mr. Gibson on his last trip with no passengers. The blaze, likely engine friction, destroyed the bus valued at about 32000 and insured.
Albert Morgan of east of town beat his twenty year old wife with a strap last Friday night. The victim suffered severe cuts from the whipping. Morgan was arrested, given a hearing, and bound over to court. Unable to post bond, he was jailed in the county lock up before later being moved to Rockville County Jail.
Anna C. Siddall aged 57 died at the county house after the death of her husband. She leaves a son and three grandchildren of Lyford. The body was taken to O. L. Brown and Son for services Friday morning. Burial followed at Bloomingdale cemetery.
