A seven year old girl, daughter of Al Barneby, was struck by a buggy fender as Warner passed near Glendale schoolhouse. She suffered a bruised arm and face and a cut ear but survived. Drs Dooley and Swope treated her. the driver acted promptly. The piece urges care by children near roads.
Town discusses spring construction of a new town building to replace the old structure. The plan includes modern appliances, sanitary facilities for women and men, a properly sized bell to sound fire alarms, and to convene the council. The community hopes for definite steps soon.
George Hartman at the C. H. and D. coal dock was struck by a flying lever when a car was dumped. He suffered multiple facial gashes and was knocked unconscious for over an hour. He has since regained some alertness but his head and face remain bandaged.
A veterinary notice states that Dr. Chase W Back asks those who owe for services to pay promptly. The message directs clients to arrange payment and obliga.
Town Board held regular session on Thursday November 7 approving and paying bills. A town hall building was discussed with no firm decision. Finances show funds total about 6033.59 with expected taxes and fees adding near 2500 for a total around 8500. Bonds are current and interest paid. The tax levy was previously reduced by about 65 cents per hundred.
Montezuma High School routed Mecca 72 to 22 last Friday night as Walter McCord Mathas Whitson Jer ome and Frank McCord led the lineup. Capt McCord suffered a shoulder injury but is expected to play in the Marshall game. Crowd enthusiasm came from local rooters led by Miss Cora Mathas.
Work has begun on a new concrete fence at Oakland cemetery. Trees are being trimmed and topped, with talks of a concrete walk and additional improvements to make it one of the county’s nearest cemeteries.
At the last Newport town fathers meeting they found the treasury depleted and the town had to borrow 600 dollars to pay outstanding bills. They project a 1709 dollar shortfall after next year’s tax installment.

A Silverwood Indiana man calling himself Jesse Dow dell insisted at the White House today on seeing President Daft to press for lower living costs. He was taken into custody for examination, unarmed, after attempting to contact Secretary Knox and British Ambassador Bryce. Dow dell once lived here and belonged to the Localist party, remembered by many as honest and upright.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris Jarvis entertained at a family reunion Sunday with guests including Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Waggoner Mrs. Lou Fruit of Dana Mr. and Mrs. Walter McGrath of London Mr. and Mrs. Claude Waggoner and children Mr. and Mrs. Rastus Harper and children Kenneth Maud and Vernie Waggoner Mr. Robert Fenton and Mrs. Joe Haworth of Danville NL.
After completing the new water tank the crew moved to wreck the old tank at C. HB. & D. yards. Workers used a three inch rope tied to the tub and the switch engine. the rope broke twice before the tub finally pulled free and collapsed for easy removal.
The second lecture of the West Union school will be held at Linebarger’s Chapel Thursday evening November 21. A fine program for the evening. Everybody come.
The Ladies Aid Society of Linebarger Chapel hosts an Oyster Supper on Thursday evening November 27 with sandwiches and coffee. Everyone is invited.

Community events include corn exhibits prize wins by Chas Bishop and Amalgamated Thimble Twisters at J G Hirsbrunner's, plus elevator work and grain handling preparations for the week ahead. Residents report health visits hospital trips and family gatherings as the town maintains routines amid transportation and weather changes.
