The Rue Churches of the Church of Christ invite all to Sunday worship at 10 30 and 8 00. Sunday School at 10 00 4 League at 2 30 Bethelworth League at 6 45 Midweek Prayer Services Wednesday 7 30. Subject for the evening is Abriuty. Rev KE J Williams is pastor. Everyone welcome.

Elizabeth Camoline Jen net Siner of Illinois born October 4 1861 died May 11 1919 at age 57. She married Benjamin Franklin Siner in 1882 and had six children Amanda Smith Jennie Morrison Mae Diggins and Edward Vernon Siner along with four grandchildren. Survived by sisters Mary Lynch Jennie Dallas Adison and Edward Jennett. A United Brothers Church member for thirteen years.
Rumor claims the last legislature's permit for an election on moving the county seat from Newport to Clinton could trigger boundary changes over four years. The northern Vermillion portion contemplates leaving the south if Newport loses the courthouse and may seek attachment to Fountain or Warren Counties. The final outcome remains uncertain.
A large War Chest meeting at the library decided to postpone closing its affairs for ninety days to allow all unpaid one year subscribers to pay. By that date all township organization cards must be returned to I. R. Sanford, County Secretary, to create a permanent record.
The community is invited to note the new machine shop operated by G. W. Hartman, east of the light office. Hartman, a Montezuma resident and expert mechanic, offers repair work on all machinery and guarantees satisfaction. He expresses optimism for success in the venture.
The meeting closed with a financial report showing townships overpaid by Adams 197 percent Reserve 109 percent Howard 01 percent Green 106 percent Penn 102 percent and underpaid Raccoon 85 percent Union 73 percent Washington 85 percent Sugar Creek 72 percent Wabash 890 percent Jackson 55 percent Florida 76 percent Liberty 54 percent. After paying balance of appropriation Parke County's quota 3500.60 was to be paid to the Salvation Army 2200 to give dead or serving soldiers a free Parke County War History and the remainder to the Parke County Red Cross unless a worthy call arises. The Pikes Peak Ocean to Ocean Highway markers are being repainted to replace faint engravings. The effort, begun west of the Wabash River, aims to ease navigation for travelers entering unfamiliar regions and to improve markings at crossroads and forks to avoid delays.
Harley Jones has joined the Terre Haute office after three years of service at the En ise Office. He expects to contribute to geaute projects and improve operations.

The Church of Christ holds tent meetings in the pasture near Aikmans store starting June 1 led by Brother Frank Cline of Covington. Services are 10 30 A M 2 30 P M and 8 P M with an old fashioned basket dinner at noon. All are welcome to attend.
R F Davis of Newport Indiana, editor of the Newport Hoosier State, received his fourth appointment as trustee of the Southern Indiana Hospital for the Insane. Appointed by Governor Hanley in 1907 and renewed by successive governors, the hospital shows strong finances and remains the only self supporting institution of its kind in Indiana. Davis earns much credit for this record.
A large crowd gathered at Mr. Roebuck’s home to celebrate his eighty third birthday. Neighbors and friends from Montezuma, Indianapolis, Dana, Health Prairie, Brown Valley, Bono and Hillsdale joined in a jolly, well filled gathering wishing him many more happy birthdays.
A notice states that names listed, including Cora Coleman Iowa and Ethel Mitchell Ind, paid for and ordered the ENTERPRISE being sent to them by sponsors W. S. Rawlings and C. S. Overman for various states. The list mentions Geo. Featherston and Mrs. A. J. Squires in Ohio and Iowa respectively.
Auto Auman, eighteen, received a life term for second degree murder in Parke County after a jury found him guilty. The other two youths, William Powell and Carl Griffin, await hearings in Vermillion County as the court backlog delays their cases.
The defendant knew nothing of the affair when it happened and will likely plead innocence through his advocates, fighting the penal sentence to the last.
In Illinois a bill advances for a five cent bounty per rat scalp with additional provisions to follow. A prominent farmer supports the idea and would pay the bounty himself to reduce the rat problem on his farms.
Sunday at eleven o'clock the U B Church in Hillsdale hosts memorial services for old soldiers and widows with an open invitation to younger veterans. An interesting program and special music are planned and attendees are asked to bring flowers if possible to honor living and dead comrades.
