A sudden shower of goodies filled the Methodist parsonage pantry Tuesday evening. Many church members and friends gathered as Rev and Mrs. Hicks returned from town, finding the door unlocked and guests with calling cards. Mrs. Hicks called it a sure cure for headache.

A week opening boxing exhibition drew a modest audience as two young fighters staged a friendly bout described as a draw. No admission was charged and the event had limited promotion, leaving a potential rematch date to be determined.

Parke County to establish agriculture experiment station

The Rockville Tribune notes Parke County plans an agriculture experiment station with an expert in charge. About 200 farmers attended a meeting in the court room to discuss securing funds and forming a temporary organization. Professor George S. Sheriff R. J. Finney Dies After Illness

Sheriff R. J. Finney of Parke county died Wednesday morning after a long illness. He served a second term and had about 20 days remaining before his successor would take office. Funeral services were held at the family home in Rockville and at the Bloomingdale M E church with the G A R in charge and Rev. Wm B Chancellor assisting.

James M. Maxwell Dies at Soldiers Home in Danville

James M. Maxwell born April 26 1848 near Newport Indiana died December 9 1912 at the Soldiers Home Danville Illinois. He lay in state at Vermilion Chapel with funeral services at 1130 and burial beside his wife Lavina Hutson. He served as private in Company A 6th Cavalry 71st Indiana Volunteers from 1862 to 1865 and left five children Kenneth Frank Richard Clair and Raymond.

The Christmas seals commission of Indiana memorializes Dr Henry Moore former secretary and state organizer for the Indiana Association for the Study and Prevention of Tuberculosis. Boy Scouts Hike West Montezuma District Outing

The Boy Scouts hiked to West Montezuma on Saturday with a 15 member party after new recruits joined. They traveled at scout pace from the bridge to the C. and E. I. tracks in six minutes, built fires, baked potatoes, and brewed coffee near the clay pit beyond the brick yard. A.M. Kay will train the scouts with Rev. Hicks as scout master, and 25 boys seek enrollment.

Postmaster General Orders Santa Letters Be Sent to Charities

Hitchcock directs all postmasters to forward Santa Claus letters to suitable charity organizations in the receiving city or town. Letters lacking postage go to the dead letter office, with authorization to obtain names and addresses of charitable institutes for needy writers. The plan adds postal work but aims to connect children of the worthy poor with aid.

Dr Keys of Indianapolis demonstrated a 1913 Regal touring car at Pressler sales rooms priced 1250 dollars. Mrs. Wm Norris and Mrs. Fred Dicken visited Bloomingdale last Friday.
