Monroe considers bond buy up to cut interest costs

Monroe council eyes taking up $75 000 in bonds held by German Insurance of Freeport to save interest. Banks may temporarily place new bonds locally at 5 percent while replacements are arranged. bond issue totals 85 000 with 4 percent coupons. City also orders immediate sidewalk and sewer work and eases sign ordinance for electric signs.

Death of Mrs. Maurice H. Fitzgibbons on Tuesday

Mrs. Maurice H. Fitzgibbons died Tuesday at 8:40 am at 212 East Washington after a weeklong severe bowel illness. A 47 year old Monroe native, she recently marked the 25th anniversary of her marriage to her husband. She leaves her husband, son J Ray Fitzgibbons, Chicago based siblings and her mother Mrs. Michael Dalton of Chicago. Funeral is set for Thursday.

Piano Recital at Frederick Trachsel Home

A splendid recital given at the home of Frederick Trachsel last evening, with several pupils performing each number beautifully. Mrs. Palmer assisted in two fine songs. About sixty people attended. Participants included Misses Ada Stauffacher, Anna Geivel, Edna Luchsinger, Elsie Wheeler, Emma Schmid, Edna Stauffacher, Dorothy Christensen, Barbara Schar, Louise Twining, and Emma Bleiler.

Water works bonds to be issued for Monroe

The city will redeem 75000 in bonds held by German Insurance of Freeport and borrow 60000 from local banks to float a new 4 percent issue. Colin Wright and F B Luchsinger arranged the deal, with Gorham notified. Interest will be paid through First National Bank of Chicago to improve market standing.

Kicked by Colt Injures Cadiz Man in Pasture Drive

Chas F Priewe of Cadiz was kicked from his buggy by a colt while passing through a pasture to view the colts. One colt struck him, throwing him out. a physician found two ribs fractured.

Train Wreck Delays Milwaukee Route Passenger Service

Trains on the Milwaukee road faced delays after an early morning wreck on the Prairie du Chien division kept the westbound passenger train from reaching Madison by 3:50 a.m. A separate derailment at Edgerton yesterday delayed the evening passenger by two hours. Earlier, a Milwaukee road freight derailment near Madison blocked the Illinois Central cross and delayed the Illinois Central passenger southbound about forty-five minutes, arriving around nine.

State Considering School Tax Remittance Amid Aid Increase

Wisconsin state aid for common schools totals about 1,662,360 this year up 106,012 from last year.
