Mrs. Anna Barbara Kaderly, Swiss emigrant from Canton Bern who came to America in 1884, died Sunday after a long illness in Monroe. Born Feb 13 1928 in Ostermunfigen, she lived much of her life in Green County and Monroe, with deep ties to St John s Church. Her death ends a long chapter of a Swiss colony migration to Ohio and Wisconsin.

Alpin G Fitz, aged 28, of Freeport, died at St Francis Hospital Freeport after an accident while hunting with a party near Fifield Wisconsin. He was brought home after treatment and remembered as a popular young man in Freeport where he worked at the Postal Telegraph office. The incident occurred Monday evening and the investigation remains inconclusive with local officials and colleagues noting the swift, tragic nature of the event.

Also notice of Finger Anderson’s death near Brownstown and Juliet Hill widow of Washington Will dying at 2 pm at her home on Rnegell Street aged about 85, a New York native resident of Monroe since 1838, living with daughter Mrs A B Stone.

Fire Dept Tests High Water Stream on Church Steeple
Fire men used a love cart at Universalist church to test elevated stream pressure. Pumps reached 130 pounds, throwing water over the steeple top in a solid spray about 70 feet high. Chief Streiff and Superintendent Luchsinger reported two pumps operating, the display drawing many bystanders.

Frack Whitehead Dies by Own Hand Before Wedding
Frack Whitehead a 35 year old farmer near Whitewater killed himself Tuesday morning before his planned wedding to Miss Lillie Taylor. He had feared the ceremony and told a farmhand he could not stand the crowd. He used a shotgun, triggering a fatal head wound in his room after breakfast.

Bandit shot dead on Burlington train robbery near Council Bluffs
Masked men halted the Burlington passenger train from Oniwhia to Kansas City three miles south of Council Bluffs at 11 last night. They detached the engine baggage and express cars, then fled after one bandit was shot through the heart by Expressman Chase Baster. The dead robber, 45, six feet tall, was killed as the crew recovered the train.
