Gunman Slain By Police After Hostage Released
In New York a gunman who held a female check cashing employee hostage for over two hours was fatally shot by police after detectives used a ruse to flush him from the shop. The suspect entered the Royal store at 9:97 a.m. and left after releasing the hostage at about 11:45 a.m. He then fled in a car, but was shot during the escape attempt as he tried to flee near Nostrand Avenue. Two girl clerks were present when the incident began.
