Thai police arrest pilot in Cathay Pacific bombing case

Thai police charged Lt. Somchai Chaiyasuta with premeditated murder for placing a gift wrapped bomb aboard a Cathay Pacific airliner that exploded over South Vietnam killing 81. He allegedly gave the bomb to his fiancée, planned the timing, and attempted insurance payouts afterward. Police said the NEC ordered the arrest after ICAO evidence was reviewed.

Crowley Judge Faces Charge After New Orleans Arrest

City Judge Edmund M. Reggie of Crowley is charged in New Orleans with reviling police and refusing to move on. A police spokesman said he was arrested Saturday night at Tulane Stadium after attending a Saints vs. Chargers game and released on parole minutes after booking. Man Trapped 31 Hours Rescued From Parkway Wreck

Kenneth Thomas, 45, was trapped for 31 hours beneath a wrecked station wagon with his coworker Matthew Buckley, 57, after a Cross Island Southern State parkways crash in eastern Queens. Buckley died. Thomas was freed by police and treated for minor injuries.

Five Americans Killed Past Week In Vietnam War

SAIGON AP reports five Americans killed in action last week, three missing and three wounded, the lowest weekly total since 1965. One American died nonhostile. South Vietnamese losses totaled 551 killed and 2,514 wounded, with 204 missing. Allied tallies show 45,855 American KIA and 303,346 wounded, among others.
