Ford Pension Plan Approved in Auto Industry Milestone
Detroit Oct 27 The Ford Motor Company won approval for a $100 a month pension plan covering 115,000 production workers through a United Auto Workers vote. The plan, funded entirely by Ford, costs about $30 million annually and is part of a 10 cent an hour package. Rouge plant vote led with 32,392 in favor and 7,130 opposed. Retirement at 65 after 30 years earns $100 monthly, with 65 voluntary and 68 compulsory retirement terms. The company will contribute 8.75 cents an hour to the pension. the remaining package funds health and welfare benefits with no wage increase.

Three year old Harry Truman Mathews of Epps died from injuries suffered in a Sunday traffic crash near Epps. He died at Charity Hospital in Shreveport on Wednesday. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3:30 pm at the Church of God in Eppes with Sister Coates officiating. Burial followed at Herringville Cemetery under Mulhearn Funeral Home of Delhi. He is survived by his parents Emmett and (Mrs) Mathews, two brothers James Edward and Emmett Mathews Jr., and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Mathews and Mrs. Raynolds of Epps.
