Toronto hosts the thirty seventh international Y M C A convention with about 2000 delegates from 500,000 members. It marks the first Canadian meeting in 25 years and will cover policy, progress reports, and addresses by noted leaders over three days of sessions and preparatory conferences.

A new Vicksburg to Shreveport record was set yesterday by a bear ing Way Down Dixie Minstrel Company special train. The 172 mile route was completed in four hours and twenty five minutes, with a standout 96 miles Monroe to Shreveport in just over two hours engineered by Graham. The train departed Delta at 12 30 pm, reached Monroe at 2 40 pm, and arrived in Shreveport at 4 55 pm, with the company reportedly seen in Longview Texas last night.
In Austin on October 27 a $50,000 monument to General John B. Hood was unveiled at the Texas State Capitol as the principal feature of Hood’s Texas Brigade thirty-ninth reunion ceremonies. New York report states forty three species formerly used on women’s hats are no longer allowed to be sold by milliners in the state. The ruling, issued in New York City, affects the trade and specifies restrictions on hat adornments.
The National Association of Audubon Societies at the American Museum of Natural History notes that after the law’s passage millinery interests asked the Forest Fish and Game Department to identify permissible birds. Philadelphia October 27 Dooin playing manager of the Nationals said he would resign by sending his letter to President Fogel. The action blocked a proposed player exchange between the Nationals and Cincinnati. Dooin and Clark Griffith had agreed to swap players but Fogel vetoed the deal.
