Viet Cong flotilla sunk in Mekong Delta clash
In the Mekong Delta south of Saigon, militiamen, U.S. gunships, and river boats crushed a Viet Cong flotilla of about 150 sampans. They reported 147 Viet Cong dead, 17 captured, and 121 sampans sunk, with 21 motors seized. American pilots flew 97 bombing missions amid poor weather.

Tigers' Interim Manager Dies in Detroit
DETROIT AP Bob Swift 51 longtime Tigers catcher and interim manager died today after a battle with lung cancer. Hatten Warns Men Against Striking In West Monroe
West Monroe Mayor W B Hatten warned municipal workers that a strike would be treated as fireable and their jobs filled. About 65 employees were due to vote on a strike at 4 p m. Union rep Raymond Oliver of Shreveport said the decision would be carried out. Hatten cited city interests and said the council has rejected a union contract while pledging democratic process. Local president Blanchard Reno was unavailable for comment.
