A former deputy sheriff, Raymond Chambers, 42, was arrested and released on 7500 bond after arraignment on threatening injury to oilman Glenn McCarthy for 50000 dollars. Chambers allegedly mailed a demand letter on September 29, threatening to kill or injure McCarthy or family if the money was not paid.

Los Angeles October 12. Frank Morgan left nearly his estate valued at over $100,000 to his widow Alma Morgan in trust. The comedian died September 9 at 59. He also left 5000 to brother Ralph Morgan and 10 percent of income of the remainder to sister Zayla W. Cook. Upon Mrs. Morgan's death the trust fund dissolves and the proceeds go to son George Morgan.
Three Irish sisters, Anna Symott 84, Bessie Salter 79, and Sarah Jones 76, reunited in Monroe after fifty years apart. Symott traveled from Sycamore Illinois by Panama Limited section with her daughter and granddaughters. Salter, who arrived from Ireland eight months ago, plans to become an American citizen. They recalled long lives shared, while a missing North Dakota sister weighed on them and pride in returning to American freedom filled the scene.
A passenger train bound for the Tigre resort collided with a freight aboard the General Bartolome Mitre line near the Peron terminal, killing about 25 and injuring around 100. Norris Charlescraft Williamson, 75, noted cotton production expert and former Louisiana state senator, died in a Vicksburg hospital after two years of ill health. Coroner inquest concludes Buddy Clark died accidentally in the October 1 plane crash that killed him and injured five others. Pilot James Hayter, charged with incompetence by the CAB, faces a hearing Tuesday. Hayter testified he was low on gas above Bakersfield and admitted underfilling before the return flight to Burbank.
