Fourteen Plead Guilty In Fourth District Court
Fourteen persons pleaded guilty in Fourth District Court on Friday morning during the regular misdemeanor session. Judge Jesse Heard sentenced John Henry Henderson to one year in parish jail for aggravated assault after a dispute over a dice game near Calhoun ended with a 12 gauge shotgun firing. One defendant received a one year jail term. another was put on probation. Two pled not guilty and four had cash bonds forfeited for failure to appear.

Elgin Claude Morgan, 26, was given six years in the Angola state peniten tiary on two counts of forgery in Fourth District Court. Sentences run concurrently. Morgan was arrested May 9 by Ouachita Parish sheriff and held in parish jail. Detainers from Minden, Winnsboro, Homer, Natchitoches and Chicago followed him. he was transfered to Minden for related charges.

Joe Barry Mullins, Northeast State band director and assistant professor of music, judged a marching and twirling festival October 7 in Nashville Tennessee. The Mid Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association sponsored the event, featuring 17 high school bands from the region. Mullins joined Northeast State last year after teaching at Louisiana Tech for three years. Northeast State college band elects officers
The Northeast State band held elections to finalize its leadership as it resumes function September 1.
