Winnsboro Man Dies From May Crash Injuries
A 30 year old Winnsboro man Billy Gwin died at a Monroe hospital from injuries received in a May 14 three car collision on La Hwy 15 ten miles south of Monroe. His brother Chester Samuel Gwin Sr 34 and Sherman Dixon Burns 27 both of Winnsboro were killed in the crash that involved Homer C. Franklin 53 of Grayson and Murphy Blackwell Sr. of Monroe. Six others were injured.

Mechanic Rescues Boy After 12 000-volt fall and fire
Ronnie Perez an 11 year old boy fell 30 feet to railroad tracks in Brooklyn and touched a live high voltage line. He was rescued by John Dennis a 28 year old garage mechanic who smothered the flames with his bare hands and carried him to safety. Perez in critical condition with third degree burns survived the shock and was treated at Brookdale Hospital.
