The Joint Judiciary Committee of the Senate issued an favorable report on Convention 5. The panel endorsed the measure advancing to the full chamber with minimal changes and noted support from key sponsors.
In Baton Rouge on May 25 the Senate judiciary committee sent the administration constitutional convention bill with a 13 to 6 favorable report. Amendments to bar re opening the old state debt are pending, while anti convention forces concede Senate support for the measure though floor wording remains unsettled. The House shows a 76 in favor, with representation and delegate at large selection to be resolved by a convention called by the Democratic State central committee.
In the House Representative Hintgr introduced a resolution ordering the transportation of all juvenile criminals held in the penitentiary to the Monroe reform school at the state's expense.
Myron T. Herrick former governor of Ohio and ambassador to France will open the Missouri Bankers Association convention in Kansas City Missouri as the first speaker. William A. Law president of the American Bankers Association will address current banking problems with other speakers scheduled. The convention continues through tomorrow night.
Providence RI hosts the fifth Roger Williams Driving Club horseshow this afternoon with 22 classes. Mounted police and cavalry horses will be judged, including six saddle classes and two jumper categories, followed by a banquet tonight.

Louis Johnson nineteen year old negro dies after stabbing at Pine and North Third streets. Maryland Savannah another negro is captured after a quarrel at the Consolidated Ice Company employees. Doctors Graves and Gray perform a life prolonging operation at St. Francis Sanitarium with salt solution and chest surgery.
Surgeons opened a boy's chest to repair a punctured pericardium and penetrate the right heart cavity. Blood clots blocked flow until the sack was resected, but he later collapsed from an embolus in the coronary artery. This rare heart operation drew medical comment locally.
Kansas City May 2. A continuance postpones the trial of the publishers of The Mendece an anti Catholic weekly published at Aurora Missouri to the September term of the federal court in Joplin Missouri. The June 14 date was moved due to illness of a defendant and the wife of another. The defendants face charges of misuse of the mails.
Under the federal bureau of standards, a convention opens here today of weights and measures officials from cities and states. Governors have been invited to send delegates from their weights and measures bureaus. This tenth meeting reports that standard measures and weights are in use practically everywhere in the United States.
