A second city Democratic primary is set for June 26 to decide whether H W McSherry or John L Luffy will win the finance and public utilities office. W L Jack Howard ousted John E Coon by 1 044 votes and Wayne H Huckaby returned to office with 6 308 votes while J D Jace Parker lost with 3 249 votes. Howard and Huckaby will take office in early July if no general election is required. Two Texans Killed as Concrete Unit Collapses in Leesville
In Leesville Louisiana a ready mix concrete unit collapsed killing two men and injuring a third. The dead are R. D. Moore of Liberty Texas and Carl Goff of Devers Texas. The injured is James Watson of Leesville Texas with a broken arm and possible internal injuries. A plant employee Lewis Ward said the collapse occurred when sand gravel and cement were dumped into the hopper. It was the first load at the new plant. Moore and Goff had been staying at a local hotel. Watson began work at the plant today.
