Dispatches detail preparations for a fourth Monroe Rescue expedition to flood areas in Bayou regions of Deglaize and Atchafalaya. Flight Lieutenants R Carr and L M Gillman of the Royal Air Force started at 10:42 AM in Cranley England aiming for a continuous 4000 mile flight to India. They will use a Hawker Horsley aircraft and hope to complete the journey in about forty hours.
A bullet fired through a window of the North Dakota executive mansion yesterday narrowly missed Governor A G Sorlie. The incident was revealed at his home today.
The Bastrop area sees refugee numbers fall from a peak of over 7,000 to 2,223 as rehabilitation begins. Roads are opening, mail service improves, and Red Cross chairman W. B. Gladney leads efforts to distribute cotton seed, soy beans, and garden seed for 1,500 families.
Lonnie Dixon, 17, was found guilty of killing 12-year-old Floella McDonald after luring her to a church belfry. A male jury sentenced him to die in the electric chair on June 24, his 18th birthday, with 150 deputies and National Guard units on duty around the courthouse area.
John Franklin Webb, a Memphis negro, was executed at dawn after being found guilty of criminally assaulting a white girl in November 1925. He died at 4:58 a.m. shortly after the electric chair was activated.

Charles A Lindbergh captain of the Missouri national guard known as Slim begins a solo unmarked air trail to Paris from Roosevelt Field New York. The Spirit of St Louis lifts off under careful watch as he clears telegraph wires and rough runways with 488 gallons of fuel. He aims to reach Paris in under 36 hours with no stops and carries a week of emergency rations.
Flood Relief Director John M. Parker issued an urgent order to evacuate all women and children and the aged and infirm from Pointe Coupee Parish as flood waters from the Atchafalaya threaten the region. Major John Gotwals reported the river's volume is too great for banks to hold, prompting preparations for further relief and potential evacuations nearby.
In Lafayette La on May 20 a refugee camp birth produced a vigorous male infant to Mrs Lester Guidry from Evangeline district. The attending physician recorded the name L Eau Haute on the birth certificate, meaning high water.
