Delhi Man Killed as Truck Hit by Train at Crossing
A 55 year old Delhi man, John W. Johnson, died when his truck was struck by an Illinois Central passenger train at the Old U S 80 crossing near the Delhi County Club and Golf Course. The impact hurled the truck 96 feet down an incline and into a telephone pole. Johnson died instantly while reportedly en route to fish at Bayou Macon.

Bank Robbery Reported At Rapides Bank Branch
In Alexandria Louisiana two men robbed the Lee Street Rapides Bank and Trust Co branch shortly before noon taking an undetermined cash amount. One robber with a pistol stayed at the door while the other with a sawed off shotgun demanded money at the teller’s cage. They fled in an automobile as the FBI joined local and sheriff's officers in the investigation. The bank was crowded though most patrons did not realize a robbery was in progress.
