The town and country prepare a cooperative gathering at the city park. Representatives from parish government Farm council fish community clubs and civic groups will speak. Soil brought from the park will hold rose cuttings and pecan tree material to symbolize living on good terms. Seland is expected to attend and witness the ceremonies.
Special to The News-Star Ruston May 16 prizes awarded by the local chapter Will H. Dilgleague for Lincoln parish schoolchildren. First prize $25 to Willie Maud Gains. second $10 to Aubry Hinton. third to Lessie Jiles. fourth to June Wyrick. fifth to Nelsous Owens, honorably mentioning Hallie Townsend. Judges were D. K. Brown A. E. Phillips and Ric L. Reese. The first prize winner may compete statewide for a $400 grand prize.
Rev W Wineuns Drake pastor of Trinity Methodist church Ruston delivered the baccalaureate sermon at the Dodson High School auditorium May 13 to a record crowd. Superintendent D E Sikes will present diplomas Thursday night at 8 pm. Other speakers and a program were scheduled. several Dodson residents and visitors were noted in attendance.
