Kelly reported five burglaries in Monroe cleared after Charles Maurice Vassell admitted breaking into Gurilandos Grocery La Caras Grocery Jones Bar-Be-Que Econo Cleaners and Longs Service Station. about $150 in vending machines stolen. In separate cases three teens were arrested for two Sunday burglaries at Thomas Street Grocery, $32.25 taken with $9 recovered.

The Monroe West Monroe Symphony Orchestra will present a spring concert Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Brown Auditorium, Northeast Louisiana State College. Funeral services for Noel Bradford held in Archibald
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. today for Noel J. Bradford 72 Archibald who died Sunday in a Rayville clinic. The Archibald Presbyterian Church was to be officiated by Revs Ernest Holloway and Robert Rogers with burial in Lynn Cemetery. Bradford, a maintenance foreman for the Louisiana Highway Department, was a senior deacon and a member of the W. M. Baker Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his widow Mrs Willie Bradford a son Jim Bradford Monroe a stepson Col Daniel Rachel Columbus Ohio two sisters Edna LaGrone and Carrie Branton Birmingham Alabama a half sister Alice McDonald Monroe two brothers Mann Bradford Roscoe Bradford Archibald and six grandchildren. David Carter officiating Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under Mulhearn Funeral Home direction Watson died unexpectedly Sunday at his residence 2318 Racine Dr Monroe from an apparent heart attack He was a Walton Kentucky native educated at Transylvania College and Lexington Theological Seminary He led St. John's for six years previously led First Christian Church Monroe for 20 years He served as president of the Monroe Ministerial Association and chaired the Christian Churches of Louisiana board for 10 years He also presided several times over the state convention of Christian Churches He is survived by his widow Mrs R T Watson of Monroe a daughter Mrs Joe Chambless of Shreveport a sister Mrs Harry Spencer of Florence Kentucky and three grandchildren Pallbearers are L B Boone Lloyd Church Eric Wade Merle Edwards Cecil Massey Vincent Shurr D R Coker H H Davies and O M White Sr Honorary pallbearers will be all present and past deacons and elders of St. John's The body will lie in state at St. John's from 9 a.m. until services The family requests memorials to the Building Fund of St. John's Christian Church Monroe.

Two women killed as car strikes pedestrians near church
In Monroe Parish a 73 year old woman Ella McCalla and a 70 year old Quitman resident were struck from behind by a vehicle while walking west on La 542 near Sweetwater Baptist Church. The driver Jerry Lynn Lowery 16 of Quitman had just left the church. The other woman Mrs Clarence Turnbow was hospitalized with a fractured leg and ribs in fair condition. Police continue investigation with no charges filed yet.

Monroe man wins five day Mexico luxury trip contest
R W Hales of Monroe and Shreveport has been named winner of a five day luxury trip to Acapulco Mexico in the Reed Distributing Co contest. He will depart June 12 on an American Airlines jet and stay at the Centro Hilton Hotel.
