Baton Rouge hosts the Louisiana Women's Golf Association tournament at the University Club Monday through Friday. Notable participant Mrs. E. S. Girault from Lakeside golf and country club is expected to contend for the title amid strong local interest.
A dense schedule lists Temple Sisterhood, cemetery association, Episcopal and Presbyterian groups, Christian and Baptist societies, Catholic Altar Society, Music Guild, and Parliaments Law club meeting times. Social events include Lakeside golf, al fresco lunch, bridge, and tea prospects. Local residents and families feature in visits and recoveries.
At a Sunday meeting of the Sons of the American Legion at the L. B. Faulk post memorial home Seymour Tuey was elected temporary chairman to direct the group until officers are chosen. Sam Orchard led the gathering with J. E. Dupont and Ben Stern assisting. next meeting Wednesday at 7 45 p m when officers will be elected. Boys eligible for membership asked to bring parents. Dues are one dollar per year and attendees included James Haynes Brooks Stein J L Stern John McClain Louis Stern Marion Dupont Watson Dupont Seymour Tuey and William R Orchard.

Louisiana welfare officials and personnel from the Public Welfare Department in Monroe will participate in a state meeting in Orleans. The gathering includes social workers and department directors as part of statewide welfare planning and coordination.
In New Orleans a public welfare meeting will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. with honor guests including Miss Susan K. Gillean Mrs Bell Winchester Mrs Martha Fritsch Miss Margaret Brooke Governor Richard W. Leche Mayor Robert S. Maestri and Commissioner A. R. Johnson. David Craig Adie New York state commissioner of public welfare will deliver the principal address.
The Louisiana Conference of Social Welfare meets in New Orleans May 6 to 8. A. R. Johnson, state welfare commissioner, will lead with focus on The State's Responsibility for Social Work. Monroe delegation details were not released, marking the 21st annual conference. Registration opens at 1 PM Thursday with a 3 PM session on echoes at the regional institute.
Edward Cornell 58 of New Orleans died from injuries after being struck by a taxi on Saturday night in Biloxi. Survived by three sons Alber Ott of Ocean Springs Lawrence of Brooklyn N Y and Newton Cornel Montgomery and a sister Marietta Swain of New Orleans.
