Miss Marie von Gastel, a Belgian nurse, will address attendees at the school auditorium this Saturday. The event invites students and community members to hear the guest speaker discuss nursing from a Belgian perspective.
Miss Marie von Gastel, a young Belgian woman, to address a Liberty Loan event at the City School auditorium in Dallas. Rabbi David Fichman praises her eloquence and pitying account of Belgium, as bond sales rise in Lake Providence and Tallulah meetings. Von Gastel, 21 or 22, fled German invasions, served as volunteer nurse, now appeals for bonds. German artillery reported active in nearby fronts.

The war department abandons completing a unit before deployment. Replacements will fill units from camps in the United States. About 230,099 men to be called this month under the selective service act, with 150,000 mobilized last month. Projected annual call of 800,000 by year end now compressed to two months. Casualty list reports 96 killed, 11 died of wounds, 2 from accidents, 3 from disease, 7 from other causes. Wounded 7 severely, 60 slightly, 3 missing. Buy a bond.
The medical advisory board for the district has nearly completed its docket with few cases on the latest meetings. The report lists numerous qualified and not qualified names from Richland, Lincoln, Ouachita, Concordia, Franklin, LaSalle, Catahoula, and other counties, along with divisions and assignments, ending with a brief Buy-A-Bond note.
Report by J H Trousdale to Dallas Federal Reserve Bank shows Ouachita parish third Liberty Loan subscriptions totaled 644 150 through local banks and rail offices. Banks listed include Ouachita National Bank 245 000 Central Savings Bank 225 550 West Monroe Bank 12 850 Missouri Pacific Employees 44 600 U S P Employees 19 150 plus a 25 000 subscription by Vicksburg Shreveport and Pacific Railway Company for employee purchases through the company.
