Captain Price of the 19th Infantry U S A arrived in Monroe and opened headquarters at the Monroe Hotel to enlist officers for the Officers Training School at Fort Logan H Root near Little Rock. By noon eight had enlisted and more were registered this afternoon. Price will stay another day and meet enlistees in the hotel lobby to explain details. Names of those enlisted include John Douglas Berley and Mindem.
Police say Hirsch and Meyeringer confessed to a speculative plan involving fake reports of President Wilson’s assassination and Atlantic coast submarine raids. They planned to blow up Morgan offices and tap telegraph lines to move stock prices. Both held on $16,000 bail each.
